So I’ve heard people rave about the Eclipse IDE before, but I never tried it for a few reasons. First, the site has no screenshots. I’m picky like that. I can usually tell right away but looking at a tool whether or not I’ll like it. It has to be visually pleasing AND functional. On top of that, whenever I see the word Java in the descriptions and reviews of some new program, I tend to shy away. Java is ALWAYS slow IMHO.
Then yesterday on use Perl;, I saw a post about a new Perl language plugin for Eclipse. So I decided to give the whole Eclipse thing a try.
I’m very impressed. With Perl plugins as well ass XML/XSLT plugins and it’s CVS plugin, this may be the IDE for me for a while.
